As one of the seminal black female acts Krystol, in the mid-80's consisting of Roberta Stiger, Tina Scott, D'Marie Warren and Karon Floyd, distinguished itself by being one of very few groups of its nature to split the lead vocal chores amongst all its members. First album was 1984's Gettin' ready and though the album failed to generate much chart action, After the dance is through became a European club hit. Despite a number of internal changes at Epic, Krystol still maintained this input on 1985's Talk of the town. Tragically, in february of that year, Warren was killed in a car crash near completion of the album's recording. When Talk of the town didn't do commercially well Epic changed the direction of the group for the 1986's Passion from a woman-lp. Robbie Danzie, who was initially recruited as a stand-in for Floyd during her maternity leave in '85, became sole lead vocalist. Floyd chose not to return after giving birth leaving Krystol as a trio. The singles Passion from a woman and Precious, recious both sold well which led to the group's first video. Last muscial outings as a trio where the 1989 release of I suggest U don't let go, after this the group was dropped from the label.
