Singer Willie Collins sang smooth, soulful Southern flavored R&B/New York-recorded ballads with one, Let's get started, reaching number 43 R&B in Billboard during spring 1986. Hailing from North Carolina, Collins moved to New York. His 1986 Capitol LP, Where you gonna be tonight was produced by Billy Nichols. Besides Let's get started (which was like a second version of Freddie Jackson's Rock me tonight), the album boasted the jamming title track co-written by Joylon Skinner, the smooth ballad Restless. In 1991 he appeared as an actor in a movie called Hot Shots!
